Practicalities
Are kids welcome?
Children are welcome at the church and for other daytime activities, but the evening party is for adults only. We hope you can find a solution for childcare during the evening.
For convenience, it’s possible to stay at the venue, though please note that it isn’t particularly child-friendly (no pool, playground, or similar facilities).
What kind of weather should we expect?
The weather will most likely be warm during the day, with temperatures ranging from 28 to 33°C. However, since we’re at an altitude of 700 meters, it can get chilly in the evening. We recommend to check the forecast closer to the date.
Will there be a gift list or gift preferences?
Your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift of all! If you would like to give something extra, we would love experiences we can share together or contributions toward our honeymoon.
In Romania, the custom is to give money as a gift.
Are there any local customs or traditions I should know about?
Weddings in Romania are often big events, with lots of family, friends, and even neighbors coming together to celebrate. The atmosphere is vibrant and full of life, with lots of music and dancing, both traditional and modern. During the celebration, you might hear cheers of Noroc! as guests drink the local moonshine, palinca.
Wedding day details
Will transportation be provided between accomodation and venue?
Yes, we will arrange transportation between Baia Mare and the church/venue for guests staying in town. Additionally, we will have designated drivers available to safely take you to your accommodation. More details will be provided closer to the date.
What is the dress code?
We’d love for you to dress to impress! Think festive and semi-formal – perfect for a wedding celebration. Suits, cocktail dresses, and chic outfits are all great choices. Expect warm weather (28–33°C).
What type of food will be served?
We’ll be serving a plated menu with several courses. We’re happy to accommodate dietary preferences — just let us know in advance if you have any!
Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors?
The wedding will be primarily indoors, in an air-conditioned space. There will also be access to an outdoor courtyard.

Travel
Can I pay with card?
Yes, credit and debit cards are widely accepted in most restaurants, shops, and hotels. However, it’s always a good idea to carry some cash for smaller establishments or in more remote areas.
What is the local currency?
The local currency is leu / lei (RON). It’s a good idea to have some local currency on hand for small purchases and tips, though credit cards are widely accepted in most places.
Do I need a visa to travel to Romania?
Romania is part of the European Union, which allows citizens of the European Union to travel freely without a visa.

Are there any health considerations?
If you are prone to traveler’s stomach issues, we recommend taking probiotics before and during your stay to help prevent discomfort.
The Danish health authorities recommend vaccinations for Diphtheria (difteri), Tetanus (stivkrampe), and Hepatitis A before traveling to Romania, so it’s a good idea to check with your healthcare provider about these before your trip.
The main reason for these recommendations is the wilderness area by in the Danube Delta.
How can I find a pharmacy?
You can find many pharmacies around the cities by searching for farmacie on Google Maps, making it easy to locate one nearby in case you need medication or other health supplies. Most cities have 24/7 open pharmacies.
Is it safe to travel in Romania?
Romania is generally considered very safe for travelers. Like in any country, it’s wise to be aware of your surroundings. The main safety considerations are around traffic or petty crime.
Is Romania LGBT+ friendly?
Romania has made progress in recent years, and major cities like Cluj-Napoca or Bucharest are generally welcoming. However, the this is an ongoing process, and attitudes can vary, especially in rural areas, so discretion is advised.
Culture and customs
Is tipping common in Romania?
Yes, tipping is appreciated but not mandatory in Romania. In restaurants, it’s typical to leave a tip of around 10% if service is not included. For taxi drivers, rounding up the fare or leaving a 5-10% tip is common. Hotel staff and tour guides may also be tipped for good service, usually around 10-20 lei.
How should I greet people?
A handshake is the most common greeting, especially for formal occasions. Close friends or family might greet each other with a kiss on both cheeks. It’s customary to start with the right cheek.
Do I need to speak Romanian to get by?
No, many people in major cities speak English, especially in hospitality settings. However, learning a few basic Romanian phrases, like Bună ziua (Good day) Mulțumesc (Thank you) or Noroc (Cheers), will certainly be appreciated by locals!
